1926 Cleveland Indians Panorama
Original panoramic photograph capturing thirty members of the 1926 Cleveland Indians. All the players are pictured in their home white uniforms as they pose shoulder to shoulder at Dunn Field. Each player is identified in white lettering below his respective image, including player/manager Tris Speaker, Joe Sewell, Homer Summa, George Uhle, Charlie Jamieson, George Burns, Luke Sewell, and Freddie Spurgeon. The lettering along the top border reads "The Cleveland Base Ball Club 1926." A 1926 copyright by "National Press Pictures/Clev. O." appears in the lower right corner. With an offense featuring six starters who batted over .295 and a pitching staff anchored by 27-game winner George Uhle, the Cleveland Indians gave the New York Yankees a solid run for the pennant, eventually finishing in second, just three games off the pace. The panorama (33x7.5"; visible dimensions) displays rippling, minor creases, a few tiny abrasions, and water staining (most noticeable along the left border and corners. The piece is housed in its original wooden frame, which measures 35x9.25." Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
