1926 Red Grange Chicago Bears Tour Panorama
Straight from his days as a college football superstar, Harold "Red" Grange signed with George Halas and the Chicago Bears, and his subsequent barnstorming tour led to the legitimizing of pro football and the NFL. This exceptionally rare Type I image measures 30.5x9" and depicts a packed Los Angeles Coliseum as the Bears squared off with the Los Angeles Tigers on January 16, 1926. The caption at the center reads in full, "A Silent Tribute to Andy Smith California's Coach - 'Red' Grange's Chicago Bears vs. P.H. 'Puss' Halbriter's Los Angeles Tigers - Attendance 75,000 Los Angeles Coliseum January 16, 1926. - Keystone Photo Service." A small Keystone logo appears near the bottom right corner. This game was part of the 19-game, 67-day tour that filled stadiums across the country.
