1926 Ty Cobb "Just Give Me My Goddamn Trophy", Type 1 Photo

1926 Ty Cobb "Just Give Me My Goddamn Trophy", Type 1 Photo

Original Hall of Fame Inductee Ty Cobb was in his final year as a Detroit Tiger when this 8x10" photo was taken in 1926. Even at age 39, Cobb could still hit, batting .339 that season. Here he is in his home, pinstripped uniform, seemingly anxious to get the game going. Next to Cobb is Kid Gleason, a Major League pitcher and second baseman who later managed the infamous Chicago "Black Sox", who threw the 1918 World Series. Gleason was innocent of any wrongdoing, as were most of the players, but eight players were later banned by Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis for their role in the fix. A Scraparium stamp on back reads, "Jun 19, 1926. Photo has some tears in upper corners, otherwise in good condition.
