1927 Casey at the Bat Film Poster - First One Offered Publicly
One of the most important film posters extant, also a visual feast for the eyes. Silent film is based on Ernest Thayer's legendary character, Casey as the Bat was brought to the silver screen as a full-length feature for the first time in a 1927 Paramount release. Rare stone litho one-sheet movie poster was issued for the original film, starring Wallace Beery in the title role. Produced by Morgan Lithograph, the premier manufacturer of movie posters during that time, the poster's exceptional graphics and vivid colors make this one of the finest baseball-movie posters ever issued. It measures a colorful 27x41" and any artifacts from this film are exceptionally rare. Mounted on linen and some minor touchups. A spectacular artifact of both baseball and cinematic historical significance. There is joy in Mudville when it gets a load of this one.
