1927 “Casey at the Bat” One-Sheet Movie Poster
Beautiful framed stone lithograph poster of the March 8, 1927 silent film version of Casey at the Bat. The film is based on the poem of the same name and was produced by Paramount. It was the first film adaptation and was directed by Monte Brice who would work with Bob Hope as a gagman in the future. The film starred Wallace Beery as Casey, Ford Sterling as O' Dowd, ZaSu Pitts as Camille and Sterling Holloway as Elmer. This would be Holloway's first film as he is best known as the voice of Disney's animated Winnie the Pooh. This is incredibly rare litho one-sheet movie poster was issued in 1927 and produced by Morgan Lithograph which was recognized as the premier manufacturer of movie posters during that era. This poster features extraordinary graphics making it one of the most beautiful posters in the hobby. Based on hobby reports, this is one of only two or three in existence. This magnificent poster is linen-backed and professionally (archivally) framed and is simply a feast for the eyes. A classic poster from a classic movie based on a classic poem.
