1927 Dempsey vs. Tunny "Long Count" Mutoscope Marquee.
<p><span style="font-size: 13px;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Mutoscopes were the YouTube of the 1920's and allowed viewers to enjoy a video-like experience through the rapid movement of individual photographic images. On offer here is a marquee from one such contraption. It advertises the most famous sporting event of the </span><span style="font-family: Verdana;">decade</span><span style="font-family: Verdana;">, the second Dempsey-Tunney bout (also known as, "The Long Count Fight"). T</span></span><span style="font-size: small;">he maroon/gold/green/white hand-painted marquee (19.5x10.5") reads "Real Movies! Dancing Boxers. 5 cents" and features a real image (7x8") from the bout affixed at the center. Considering its ninety-year plus vintage, the piece is exceptionally good condition with </span><span style="font-size: small;">relatively</span><span style="font-size: small;"> minor wear and ageing.</span></p><p> </p>
