1927 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball - PSA Graded 8 (NM-MT) - Highest Ever Graded

The team of all teams and the granddaddy of all baseballs! Perhaps the greatest team to ever field a diamond, the 1927 NY Yankees hit their mark during America's "Golden Age of Sports" in the post-WWI period. Leading the American League from "wire to wire" and running away with the pennant by 19 games, the Yankees were an offensive juggernaut with the moniker of "Murderers' Row." Led by Babe Ruth, who was signed to an unprecedented $70,000 per year contract at the time, the Bronx Bombers put on the first ever "Home Run Race." Ruth shattered almost every record with his prodigious home runs, 60 in 1927, followed by worthy challenger and teammate Lou Gehrig, who belted 47 that year. Third place for homers was held by yet another Yankee, the inimitable second baseman Tony Lazzeri, who smashed another 18. It was the biggest show in town and made the Yankees the toast of the American League. In fact, Ruth hit an amazing 17 four-baggers in September, a new monthly record as well. The Yanks led the Majors with 158 home runs, 975 runs scored, 908 RBIs and a .307 team batting average. Their pitching was unparalleled as well; 30-year-old rookie Wilcy Moore won 19 games and saved 13; along with Waite Hoyt and Urban Shocker they combined for 59 wins and were the top three in ERA. The 1927 Yankees season culminated in a four game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates, capping off one of the most storied seasons in baseball history. 22 legends have signed this stunning sphere in black fountain pen. It is a red and blue stitched Reach Official American League Baseball (Ban Johnson). Labeling is strong and clear.
