1928 Babe Ruth Original Photograph (PSA Type I)
Presented is a 1928, Type I original black and white photograph of Babe Ruth, the amazing Bambino still at his peak. The photon captures Ruth in the beautiful, classic follow through of his swing. The '28 Yankees still had their famous Murderer's Row line-up, and they easily won the American League pennant with a 101-53 record, then went on to sweep the St' Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Ruth had broken his own single-season home run record in '27 with 60 round-trippers, and he hit 54 homers to lead Major League baseball in '28. He also led MLB that year in RBIs (137), runs (163), slugging percentage (.709), and OPS (1.172). Observation of Ruth's eyes will show that the Babe is following the ball towards right field, and his shot is high up. The photo measures 6.6x10.6". The photo has a tiny spot in the upper left corner where in outer image has come off. The top right side has a slight unevenness from where the photo was apparently cropped, and on the left side of the photo is a vertical line, in pencil, where the photo was marked for cropping, but not cut in that place. The back of the photo shows glue residue, and a stamped date of OCT 15, 1928. The back also shows "Babe Ruth" handwritten in pencil by an unknown hand. The photo has been encapsulated and PSA certified as Type I AUTHENTIC.
