1928 Bill Terry Photograph Used for 1932 R328 U.S. Caramel Card (PSA Type III)
Displayed is a Type III photo of Bill Terry, used for the 1932 R328 U.S. Caramel Card. Terry, a Hall of Fame New York Giants first baseman, spent his entire 14-year Major League playing career (1923-36) with the Giants, and he managed the team for ten seasons (1932-41). He hit .341 lifetime, still the highest career batting average for a National League player. Terry had a .401 average in 1930, and he remains the last player to hit .400 in the National League. He had at least 200 hits in six seasons, and he had nine consecutive years in which he hit over .320. In addition, he was an excellent fielder. As the Giants' manager, his team won the 1933 World Series when he was a playing manager. The photo measures 5x7". There is a thumb-sized slight smudge in the lower left corner. On the back, the photo is stamped "SEP 27, 1928," and another stamp on the back reads, "Cullen Cain, Mgr./National League Service Bureau/8 West 40th Street/New York City, N.Y." The photo (N.L. Service Bureau/1932 R328 image) has been encapsulated by PSA as Type III, AUTHENTIC.
