1928 University of Illinois Poster

Addendum: Description of condition is incorrect in catalog, please rely on description below.

Great University of Illinois football poster. Shows two Illini players in action, and the 1928 schedule. The schedule shows the second home game was against "Coe." The schedule states that no reserved seats were being sold for the obscure Coe. Guess Illinois didn't expect a huge crowd for that one (Illinois beat Coe 31-0). But their final two home games were against Northwestern and Ohio State and prices went up from $1.50 to $3.00 for those Big Ten contests. Red Grange, legendary halfback for Illinois, had played his final collegiate season in 1925, but the Illini had a fine record in '28, going 7-1 and taking the Big Ten championship. Bob Zuppke was still coaching, in his 15th season at Illinois.

Poster shows some small tearing, paper loss, creasing and stains. Poster measures 22x28" and is mounted on linen, measuring at 24x30" overall. Nice memento of an Illinois season over 90 years ago, with the players depicted on the poster still in leather helmets.
