1929-1930 Notre Dame Original Stadium Blueprints & Drawings (31)
On the short list of iconic American sports venues, Notre Dame Stadium opened its doors for the first time on October 4, 1930, with a 20-14 win over Southern Methodist University. Prior to that, plans for the then-54,000-seat arena were devised in 1929, and these 31 original drawings and blueprints were overseen by none other than legendary Fighting Irish coach Knute Rockne and were originally obtained from the Osborn Engineering Collection auction. Included are six original pencil drawings and 25 blueprints, measuring at approximately 24x36" each. There is moderate wear but no major flaws. A singularly distinctive gift for any diehard Irish fan or historian. The following items are from a private collection of a long-time Notre Dame football fanatic. The quality of this collection is the finest that we have seen.It has taken a half century to procure these items and now is the first time that some of them have seen the light of day. Enjoy and help to preserve the rich history of the fighting Irish!
