1929 Sharkey vs Stribling On-Site Boxing Program

1929 Sharkey vs Stribling On-Site Boxing Program

This is an extremely rare site program for the Jack Sharkey W. L. Stribling bout on Feb. 27, 1929 in Miami Beach.  In this fight, one which may have never happened due to the sudden death of Tex Rickard, Sharkey himself organized the event which eventually drew 40,000 fans and did over $400,000 at the box office (an amount not surpassed in the South until Clay vs Liston in 1964).  Sharkey would go on to win the fight on points.  The program, which is also Sport Life Magazine is a special "Souvenir Edition" that double as the program.  The program has some tape marks, restoration, creasing and the inside pages are fraying at the edges.  The lower left corner has been torn away from the last two pages and a small piece has been cut from an inside page as well.  Overall, the program is on the rougher side, however, due to its rarity, this remains a great piece of boxing memorabilia.
