1929 Stapleton at New York Giants Program - Benny Friedman Cover - First NFL Season for the Stapes!
While they were founded in 1915, it wasn't until 1929 that the Staten Island Stapletons played in the NFL, receiving permission to play from Giants owner Tim Mara, who had exclusive NFL rights to the area. This program is from the Stapes' initial NFL season, on October 13, 1929, facing off against those Giants at the fabled Polo Grounds. Captain Benny Friedman is pictured on the cover of this staple-bound program, which includes a centerfold of lineups, rosters, and a blank scorecard. The Giants prevailed by a 19-9 margin in the battle for bragging rights.
