1929 Ty Cobb "Tour of Japan" Magazine (Last Game Cobb Ever Played)

1929 Ty Cobb "Tour of Japan" Magazine (Last Game Cobb Ever Played)

Extremely rare and one of two known, this January 1929 issue of "Yakyukai" or "Baseball World" features the Tour of Japan and is simply amazing. Wearing the uniform of Daimai, where Cobb and Bob Shawkey among others journeyed to the Far East to play Keio. Most importantly, this was following the 1928 season with the Philadelphia Athletics and most notably the last game he ever played. He is posed with Keio catcher and captain Takayoshi Okada and HOFer Saburo Miyatake. Cobb signature is facsimile but everything else about this is "real" fantastic. Wonderful full page images of Cobb in action in Japan are mostly unknown and look like supplements. Our favorite is plain clothes Cobb next to exotic masked woman. Piece of tape on spine and small piece out of back cover but does not distract from the great overall appearance.
