1930's Earl Averill Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket
It's tough to take your eyes off the amazing embroidered Indian's head over the heart. The artistry is just remarkable; it makes one pine for the days when quality truly mattered. And it certainly mattered to Averill, whose commitment to quality play earned him a well-deserved Hall of Fame plaque. He wore this letterman-style jacket in the dugout between innings, keeping warm against the cold breeze blowing in off the lake in Cleveland. Body is blue wool, with brown leather sleeves. "Wilson [size] 42" tagging in collar. Thick embroidered number "3" is in red between bottom two buttons. This would be easily worth the opening bid just for the style. Add the Hall of Fame appeal, and it's a real diamond.
