1930's Joe McCarthy Championship Presentation Piece
Scarce 15.5" x 19.5" display piece, likely given only to players and team affiliates, is a vintage image of an elegant plaque presented to Yankee skipper Joe McCarthy. The attractive piece features small portraits and facsimile signatures of each team member surrounding the plaque, which is inscribed, "To Joseph Vincent McCarthy In Recognition And Grateful Appreciation Of His Sportsmanship. His Fine Qualities As Manager, His Human Understanding, His Modesty And His Kindness And Loyalty As A Friend. This Tablet Is Affectionately Inscribed By His Boys: Worlds Champions 1936-7-8" One of only two of these that we have ever seen. Originates from the estate of former Yankee Paul Schreiber, and in Excellent to Mint (EX-MT) condition overall.
