1930's Sammy Stein and Ad Santel Large Wrestling Photographs (2)
These are large hand-tinted photographs of early wrestling greats Sammy Stein and Ad Santel, the latter of which was a practitioner of catch wrestling. Santel fought one of the early clash-of-the-styles matches in modern martial arts history against Tokugoro Ito, a 5th degree black belt in Judo from Japan. This tinted photo of Santel has heavy spotting and is printed on heavy stock. There is some staining, this item measures 16" x 20" and is framed. Sammy Stein was a professional wrestler and also played football in the NFL in the late 20s and early 30s. Stein had a brief appearance in the movie "Mighty Joe Young" as a strongman. Stein's tinted photo is sharp with a separate name plate. Mild staining. On heavy stock and framed. 20" x 30."
