A larger than life relic from a larger than life figure, this is one hell of a war club that once belonged to the greatest sports star in history - Babe Ruth. The formidable Hillerich and Bradsby model weighs in at nearly 40 ounces (39.7 to be exact) and is 35 inches long. From later in The Bambino's unprecedented career circa 1930 and '31 when he was in his mid-30s, the bat is accentuated by the "George 'Babe' Ruth" branded on the barrel in script lettering. It comes with a PSA LOA and is also graded 8.5, which is a mighty fine designation for a Ruth bat. Although it is not listed on the ordering records, the length and weight are consistent with other bats that Ruth ordered in 1930 and 1931, when the slugger captured the last two of his 12 home run titles. The ordering records kept by H & B are not conclusive and this point is referenced in the PSA LOA. In addition, with the length, weight and player characteristics present on this bat, we are confident it was ordered and used by Babe Ruth. The historic lumber consists of terrific wood with wide grain on the barrel, which itself displays use on the left side of the label, again consistent with Ruth's characteristics. There are also cleat marks evident on the barrel. The bat is uncracked with some slight grain separation on the barrel that has been professionally repaired. There are no two ways about it... this is a sensational artifact from the legendary figure when he was still in his prime. Not only did Ruth amass 95 long balls during the 1930 and '31 seasons, he also paced the American League in walks, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, compiling a ridiculous 1.215 OPS.
