Tremendous collection of (5) game used and signed footballs from some of the early East-West All Star Games played in San Francisco. Four of the five footballs clearly have the Spalding trademark on them and all have game use, wear and scuffs and numerous very faded signatures and inscriptions: 1) Labeled "1929" although the game was played on January 1, 1930. In dark ink the ball reads, "East 19 - West 7 "Kezar" San Francisco. "Frank Marisch" and "Game Ball " are clearly legible but the other 15+ signatures are faded and light. It appears that the players wrote the name of their school along with their names. 2) 1932 ball is labeled in dark ink "East-6 West-0, Jan 1st-1932". The Spalding label is faded, is missing a portion of the lace but displays very well. "Frank Marisch" is clearly read but the 30+ others are faded and light. 3) 1933 labeled in dark ink "1933 West-21 East 13 1933". Other legible writing/signatures are Dana X Bible, Joe Hill - Colgate, John Wilbur, Jack Manders. The other 20+ are very faded and light. 4) 1937 labeled in dark ink "1937 East-3 West-0". The Spalding label is very bright. The 35+ signatures are mostly faded but some writing does stand out like "Kezar Stadium" and Gertrude R. Folendorf R.N. Superintendent Shriners". 5) 1941 labeled in dark ink "1941 - East 14 - West 20". Clearly written on the top of the ball is "No. 16" being this was the 16th East-West game played. This ball appears to have the most signatures but many are faded and light. Gertrude R Folendorf R.N is the bright signature again, this time as Administrator of Shriners Hospitals.
