1930 Cy Young & Bill Carrigan Photograph (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph capturing former Boston Red Sox stars Cy Young and Bill Carrigan posing together in 1930. Both players are pictured in uniform leaning against the grandstand railing prior to an Old Timers Day game. The date stamp "Sep 9 1930" appears on the reverse, along with numerous handwritten editorial notations and a cut newspaper article containing a partial caption to this image that reads "Bill Carrigan and Cy Young, starting battery for Boston yesterday. Young got credit for the victory." Research indicates that this photo took place at Braves Field in Boston on September 8, 1930, as over 22,000 fans turned out to witness an Old Timers Day game between former Boston stars (both Red Sox and Braves) and a team of "All-Stars." In addition to Young and Carrigan, the former stars included Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Jimmy Collins, Eddie Collins, Fred Clarke, and Edd Roush. As noted in the caption, Young was the starting pitcher for the Boston Stars and recorded the win in his club's 8-4 victory. The photo (8x10") displays light-to-moderate creasing. Very Good condition overall. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
