1930s Cuban Newspaper Cartoons by M. Pierra (61)
Top quality pen & inks are a cross between early Warner Brothers cartoons and Robert Crumb. These appeared in the major Cuban newspapers between 1932-34. Marvelous format, they average 15x10” and are thick dark ink drawings on artist’s board. Some marvelous subject matter including, crime, religion, government aggression, social strife, boxing, military, American Imperialism, and best of all several black stereotypes. Many are beautifully handcolored to add to their attractiveness. Most are by M. Pierra who was one of the editorial cartoonists of his day. Overall EX.
