1930s Jack Doyle Boxing News Service Photographs (27)
Irish heavyweight boxer, tenor and sometimes-actor Jack Doyle's personal life was just as fascinating to the public as his professional exploits. These (27) 1930's news service and San Francisco examiner staff photos well capture the colorful character. Some of the standout images in the bunch include: Doyle with Jack Dempsey in 1935; in a boxing pose with an aged, Irish woman boxer in 1935; out cold on his back after being KO'd by Eddie Phillips in 1939. Plenty of images of Doyle with his many wives & girlfriends as well as in the ring. The news service photos have original caption sheets affixed to verso and many have the original news clipping there as well. They are sized from 6x8 to 8x10" and range in condition from VG to MT.
