1930s Knute Rockne Cast Iron Plaque
His name is synonymous with Notre Dame football. The proponent of the forward pass that revolutionized the sport, Knute Rockne is the most renowned of all coaches and this cast iron plaque features a portrait of the legend. A football with the interlocking Notre Dame logo is at the bottom. There is some old oxidation that gives it its patina, but is an exceptional piece overall, grading EX. Plaques of this nature either hung in an important location such as the university itself or given to a family member or dignitary at a dedication ceremony. It measures 10" x 7".
