1931 Babe Ruth Holding Bats in Dugout Original Glass Plate Negative

1931 Babe Ruth Holding Bats in Dugout Original Glass Plate Negative

Original glass plate negative featuring a spectacular image of Babe Ruth grabbing a handful of lumber on the steps of the dugout at Yankee Stadium. Fortunately, we know exactly when this image was taken. The date, "Apr 15 1931" is stamped in red along the bottom border. The Yankees opened their 1931 season with a four-game homestand against the Boston Red Sox from April 14 to April 18 (April 17 was an off day). Ruth obviously found a bat to his liking in the group he is holding, as he had a single and two RBI in the Yankees 8-7 win that day. The negative (4x6") displays a small chip in the lower right corner, but the detached chip is present (one can see the break in the images online; we simply put the chip back in place for the lot photo, but it is detached). A few minor nicks are visible along the top border. The number "45T" is written in the upper left corner. Accompanied by a small positive photo of the image printed on paper.
