1931 Knute Rockne Plane Crash Air Mail Cover & Photographs
Credited with popularizing the forward pass, Knute Rockne is considered one of the best college football coaches in the history of the sport, and is a Notre Dame legend. Tragically, he died in a fatal plane crash on March 31st, 1931, ironically en route to the set of the film "The Spirit of Notre Dame." This highly unusual collection centers around a letter to be delivered from Rockne's fatal flight. Additionally, the package includes six 8.5 x 11" vintage, EX+ photos of the crash, as well as assorted original newspaper articles about the accident. The cover shows wear in line with being in a plane crash. A one-of-a-kind collection for Notre Dame fans and college football collectors.
