1932 Babe Ruth Game Used White Hickory Bat

1932 Babe Ruth Game Used White Hickory Bat

"One-of-a-kind" is a term that does not even do this bat justice. It's really a rare, most exquisite gem... In the 1932 World Series, the New York Yankees faced the Chicago Cubs, and during game three of the series, after having already homered earlier in the game, Babe Ruth hit what is now called "Babe Ruth's Called Shot". During the at-bat, "The Bambino" gestured to the deepest part of the park in center-field, and the ball he hit flew past the flagpole to the right of the scoreboard and landed in the temporary bleachers just outside of Wrigley Field's outer wall. 37-year-old Babe had hit a straightaway center home-run, his last series homer and last series hit, becoming one of the most legendary moments in baseball history. This pre-war Hall of Famer used this white hickory bat during the regular 1932 season, where the Yankees went 107-47 and won the pennant under manager Joe McCarthy. Though he missed 21 games on the schedule that year, Babe Ruth hit .341, with 41 home runs and 137 RBIs. So it is with great respect and admiration that this jewel of a bat is presented: The center label reads "Louisville Slugger, 125, Hillerich & Bradsby Co., Made in USA, Louisville, KY." Also stamped is "Powerized And Bone Rubbed." There are nice wear marks on the knob. If "#125" was stamped into it, then it's well worn away by now and reveals a smooth surface. Natural finish with professional grade white hickory. There are no negative player characteristics, and positives include its being uncracked, with medium use and light ball marks. LOA tells us that this is one of 16 bats ordered by Ruth specially in 1932, two of which were marked in factory records as having been shipped on September 17th, 1932 for the World Series (the famous "Called Shot" series). Length: 34 3/4". Weight: 36 oz. Graded 8.
