1932 Boris Karloff "The Mummy" Original Oversize Photograph by Roman Freulich (PSA Type I)

1932 Boris Karloff "The Mummy" Original Oversize Photograph by Roman Freulich (PSA Type I)

Fittingly eerie original promotional photograph of horror films star Boris Karloff is one of the finest we have ever seen. Measuring 10.75x13.75", the black and white image is cast in shadow while portraying Karloff as the lead character in the iconic Halloween hit, The Mummy, released in 1932. Some bending is displayed at the corners, and the back bears a large "EXCLUSIVE" stamp from Universal Studios, as well as an affixed paper caption (partially torn) which reads, in part, "EMOTION ON THE FACE OF A MUMMY brought back to life is clearly protrayed (sic) by Karloff...." Such was his fame, particularly in the genre, that he was billed simply by his last name. To this day, the Mummy is considered one of the big three of early horror films, along with Dracula and Frankenstein. Comes with PSA full letter affirming that this is a Type I image.
