1932 Portsmouth Spartans Real Photo Postcard
Prior to their first year as the Detroit Lions in 1934, the franchise was located in Portsmouth, Ohio, for its initial four years in the National Football League. This scarce photo postcard consists of a team photo from the 1932 Spartans team, which tied for first place with a 6-1-4 record before losing a tie-breaker game at Chicago Stadium, falling to the Red Grange-Bronko Nagurski Bears, 9-0. The card is in GD/VG condition due to creasing and a stain on the reverse but retains a crisp, clear image. The team and year display across the top in gold with the player names below the photo, also in gold. Most notable among the roster is Dutch Clark, a college and pro football Hall of Famer. This card has four evenly round corners that look like they are factory done rather than actual wear. It is unused and possesses tremendous eye appeal.
