1934 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx & Al Simmons at All Star Game Original Glass Plate Negative

1934 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx & Al Simmons at All Star Game Original Glass Plate Negative

Original glass plate negative capturing Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and Al Simmons posing together prior to the 1934 All-Star Game held at the Polo Grounds on July 10. While they are each seen smiling here, they would be displaying a different countenance shortly. All four players, along with Joe Cronin, were struck out in succession by Giants ace Carl Hubbell over the course of the first and second innings in what is still considered one of the most memorable pitching feats in All-Star Game history. Although no information is provided on the negative, we have seen an original news photo of this image complete with its paper caption on the reverse identifying the year and venue. The negative (5x4") displays areas of emulsion loss along the bottom border and corners. Accompanied by a small positive photo of the image printed on paper.
