1934 The Earliest Joe DiMaggio Wire Photograph

1934 The Earliest Joe DiMaggio Wire Photograph

Extremely rare and early wire photo of the Italian Stallion shows him in his mama’s kitchen eating a plate of conveniently ethnic spaghetti. Paper caption on verso of this Acme wire photo explains he is about to join the Yanks after a deal was made to obtain him from the San Francisco Seals after his “hitting in 63 consecutive games.” Obviously racist, it is entitled “Another Italian American From Frisco To The Yankees.” He is to join teammate Tony Lazzeri, as if there were some kind of quota for Italians on the Yanks. 7x9”, two corner chips.
