1935 Detroit Tigers Original Art from Ernie Harwell (18)
Detroit Tigers legendary broadcaster Ernie Harwell was an artist on the airwaves, and some of these actual artworks were specifically personalized to him. They come from the hand of the legendary F.S. Nixon, who penned the "Iffy the Dopester" character that frequently appeared in the Detroit Free Press among other places. Included in this creative lot are marvelous 9x8.5" pen and ink drawings of Rorschach test tiger inscribed, "To Ernie Harwell, With Kindest Regards F.S. Nixon." There is also a series of "Iffy the Dopester" original pen and inks with lead piece inscribed, "To Ernie Harwell, With Kindest Regards, F.S. Nixon." There are also prototype publications he created from newspaper published drawings entitled, "Iffy's Jungle Jingle Scrap Book," and 14 pages signed by various 1935 Detroit Tigers such as Mickey Cochrane (gorgeous) Gehringer, Goslin, Greenberg, Burus, Lawson, Myatt, Perkins, Parker Aiken, Bridges, Baker, Fox, Hayworth, Clifton, White, Sullivan, Owen, Rogell, Rowe, Sorrell and Walker. They have signed on the pages that refer to them (22 signatures total). Also included is a group of Detroit Free Press pen and ink with (Greenberg, Boudreau, Harris, Trucks, Cronin, York, Walker, O'Neil, Cullenbine, Wakefield, Rogell). In total, there are 18 pieces with a copy of the 1935 Iffy's Book of Tiger Tales with similar artwork. The overall conditions are EX.
