1936 Olympics 1st Day of Decathlon Ticket Stub PSA Authentic

1936 Olympics 1st Day of Decathlon Ticket Stub PSA Authentic

Presented is an August 7, 1936, ticket stub to the first day of the Olympic decathlon, eventually won by American Glenn Morris, held at Olympia Stadion (Olympic Stadium) in Berlin Germany. The Berlin Olympics was a watershed event in world history as Adolf Hitler was already a virtual dictator in Germany, and Hitler was using these Olympic games to promote his racist doctrine of German racial superiority. To try to outdo the United States, who hosted the 1932 Olympics, Hitler ordered construction of the 100,000 seat Olympic Stadium. The games were the first to be televised, and radio broadcasts of the contests went out to a worldwide audience of 43 million. Also, on the August 7 date of this ticket, Archie Williams of the United States won the Gold Medal for the 400-meter race at Olympic Stadium. During these Olympics, the 4x100-meter relay race Gold Medal was won by the United States, whose runners included African Americans Jesse Owens and Ralph Metcalfe, embarrassing the racially prejudiced Hitler. The ticket stub measures 4x2.75". The stub, written in German, features a small image of the stadium and shows "XI Olympiade Berlin 1936," "Leichtathletik" (athletics), and Olympia Stadion." Price and seat location are also indicated. The back of the stub exhibits a seating chart. The stub has been encapsulated and graded PSA Authentic. This ticket stub to the 1936 Olympics, sometimes referred to as the "Nazi Olympics," serves as a remembrance of this historic Olympics. The approaching World War II made this Olympics the last one before the onset of World War II, and the last one until the Olympics resumed in 1948.
