1936 Ted Williams Signed High School Yearbook
A significant historical tome, this 1936 high school yearbook features the sophomore year of Ted Williams from Hoover High School in San Diego, California. The varsity baseball photo is signed by a 17-year old Williams and 14 others on the squad, for which Ted also served as a pitcher, often striking out a dozen or more opponents. The year 1936 was also Williams' first playing in the minors for the PCL's San Diego Padres, for which he batted .271 in 42 games. The binding is detached from the rest of the 8x11" book, and Williams' pitching prowess is even mentioned in the season recap below the team photo.
