1937 & 1940 Wheaties Joe DiMaggio

1937 & 1940 Wheaties Joe DiMaggio

To be portrayed on a Wheaties box was quite prestigious, especially in the years before World War II. In 1937, Joe DiMaggio appeared on a Wheaties box, with a black & White photo of him following through on a swing. The photo appeared with four hitting tips from DiMaggio. This segment of the Wheaties box is approximately 6x7". The cardboard section of the box does have a few very small stains in the hitting tips section. Also included is an approximately 5.5"x6" section of a 1940 Wheaties box. In this segment, Joe DiMaggio, and Mel Ott are depicted in approximately 1x2" drawings in black, white and orange colors. There is also a similarly sized and colored drawing of tennis star Ellsworth Vines. These are vintage depictions of DiMaggio in his early years. The Hall of Famer hit .325 lifetime with 361 homers and is especially remembered for his marvelous 56-game hitting streak in 1941. The Yankee Clipper on two Wheaties boxes. That's nostalgia.
