The fourth annual All-Star Game was certainly one of the most eventful of the mid-summer match-ups. In front of a crowd that included Franklin Roosevelt, Earl Averill hit his infamous low flying liner directly into the toe of Dizzy Dean, subsequently ending his spectacular career. Averill’s is just one of the twenty-four black ink signatures you’ll find on the lightly and evenly toned surface of this OAL (Harridge) baseball (EX). Others A.L. All-Stars include: DiMaggio, Grove, Gehrig, Cronin, Foxx, Gomez, Rolfe, Gehringer, Clift, Murphy, Baker, Sewell, Moses and more. Overall the autographs grade a collective 7/10 with some having faded lightly and others exhibiting line breaks. The stampings have lightened but still present nicely. Of note is the mislabeling of “1939” in black ink by a previous owner.
