1937 Carl Hubbell New York Giants Game Worn Uniform - Photomatched To The 1937 World Series

One of the true missing links of Hall of Fame baseball flannels. Complete home uniform of Carl Owen Hubbell is far rarer than a Lou Gehrig or even a Babe Ruth jersey. Most importantly, the jersey is photo matched to the 1937 World Series. Shown here is a photo of Carl Hubbell before the opening game of the 1937 World Series. King Coral Carl is wearing this EXACT jersey. Incredibly, you can perfectly match the placement and proximity of the "GIANTS" across the front to the buttons. Pay close attention to the juxtaposition of the button to the "N" in “Giants” and you will clearly see this unmistakable historical “fingerprint.” Carl Hubbell is one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. He earned his nickname “The Meal Ticket” as the key hurler on the storied New York Giants teams of the 1930s. This is also from perhaps his greatest year: 1937. Not only was he the National League win and strikeout leader, but he set open of the most important records in baseball history which stands to this day. His record for 24 consecutive wins is up there with the great records of the era along with the DiMaggio consecutive game hit and Lou Gehrig’s Iron Man streak. The jersey is magnificent. The all-important home version it sports the all-original "GIANTS," a classic font in blue felt on the front. The matching all original blue felt "11" on the back is a retired number by the New York cum San Francisco Giants. In the collar is the Spalding tag with "C. Hubbell" chain stitched in nicely faded pink. In matching thread is his "37" stitched in the tail signifying this magical year. The jerseys displays heavy use but is still in brilliantly displayable condition. There are vintage team repairs to the blue piping of the sleeves, neck and front as well as to the back of the neck. The seven white bottoms on the front are all original. The only flaws are some light staining from use. There are some light stitch marks from a patch once sewn on the left sleeve. It was likely added to the jersey in the minors. The piece comes with a pair of matching New York Giants pants with Spalding size 38 tagging in the waistband and a name sewn in red thread, which we cannot make out. This uniform was obtained from the son of New York Giants team member Jim Sheehan. The uniform is accompanied by his 2010 letter of authenticity detailing his relationship with the NY Giants equipment manager who said it was "ok if he took some items from the season." Pieces of this caliber rarely make it to the public market. Normally they are sold quietly on a handshake basis and we never have the honor of making them known to the public. Well here is the opportunity to own of the true treasures of the diamond. A piece that not only represents one of the greatest of all time, and from his greatest era, but with unshakeable authenticity.
