1937 Hank Greenberg Game Used and Team Signed Bat (PSA 8)
Terrific bat for multiple reasons such as the bat being signed by the 1937 Tigers, The bat graded an 8 from PSA and that we can nail the year as 1937 due to the bat displaying a "C-" and "P-1". Beautiful wood shows seam marks on the barrel although the signatures make it a little tough to rate the use-there is a deep ball mark near the crack at the top of the handle-we rate the use as moderate. There is a slight crack at the top of the handle area. The labeling is burned in nice and deep. Signed by 34 team members in 8/10 black fountain ink-Greenberg has signed right above his name on the barrel. Other signers include Cohrane, Gehringer, Goslin, Rowe, Trout, Auker, Clifton, Rogell, White, Bridges and more. 1937 was an interesting year for the Tigers, they finished second in the American League, only behind the World Championship winning Yankees. Despite that feat, it was by far not the most notable thing to happen to the team. About a month into the season player/manager Mickey Cochrane took a pitched to the head and his playing career was cut short, he did however come back as the manager. Gehringer won the AL MVP and lead the AL in batting average, while his teammate Greenberg finished third in the MVP voting, lead the league in RBIs with 184 (still 3rd most in a season). PSA letter for the bat garding it an 8 and also PSA letter for the signatures. Additional letter on the bat from Michael Montbriand is dated 1992. Comes with beautiful original 8x10 inch photo of the 1937 team by George Burke.
