1938 Eddie Gottlieb New York Yankees Contract

1938 Eddie Gottlieb New York Yankees Contract

Though remembered much more for his impact on basketball, Eddie Gottlieb was also active in baseball during the mid-20th century. This 1938 contract with the New York Yankees signed by Gottlieb granted permission to the Negro National League to hold games at Yankee Stadium on select Sundays in 1939. Gottlieb made the schedule for the Negro National League, and later served on the first Special Committee on the Negro Leagues. The six-page contract is signed on the last page by Gottlieb and Ed Barrow, both 9/10 signatures. The contract has holes and staples at its top and an unknown yellow stain on front. It has a four-way fold and is otherwise VG.
