1938 Experimental Official National League Night Game Baseball
From innovator, World War I veteran, and chief executive of the Cincinnati Reds, Brooklyn Dodgers, and New York Yankees, Larry MacPhail, came these experimental yellow baseballs. The balls are a development in his push for night baseball in Brooklyn, the NYC borough he found himself in after he bailed out the Dodgers in 1938. The first game with these leather lemons was played that same year against the St. Louis Cardinals on August 2nd, with no decisive preference from the players favoring either the yellow or the white ball. This scuffed up, Official National League (Frick) baseball came from the Cincinnati area and is in EX condition, and appears to be game used.
