1938 Gum Inc. Horrors of War Complete Set (288)
In 1938 Gum Inc. issued the Horrors of War and they became an instant hit with their bright colors and attention grabbing graphics. Their gruesome details and explicit text showed American children the atrocities that were happening abroad. The set has 288 cards with 48 high numbers. The key cards Grade #1 Marco Polo Bridge VG-EX, 88 Human Hands VG-EX, 99 Ghoulish Dogs VG-EX, 240 Frightful Cost of War GD- VG, 277 Hitler Border Patrol VG-EX, 283 Hitler Threatens Force VG, 286 Chamberlain Meets Hitler EX. There are three stamped winner cards and two ad backs included in the set. The rest of the set averages a consistent VG-EX throughout.
