1938 Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling II - Complete with Autographs, Ticket, Program & Broadside

Perhaps the most significant heavyweight bout of the pre-war era, the Joe Louis–Max Schmeling II fight caught the attention of the entire world. In this framed collage, created by noted sports artist Paul Malc, are some of the most sought-after original artifacts ever assembled in one place relating to this incredible bout. Measuring 65x44”, this collage is without a doubt the definitive museum-quality exhibit on the Louis–Schmeling II fight. Custom-framed in classic wood, glassed with UV protected glass, and double-matted using only acid-free matting and materials, contained within the frame are the following completely original and authentic artifacts: A complete issue of the September 1937 Ring Magazine; an original press (wire) photo of Louis in training for the fight at his Pompton Lakes, NJ, facility; a complete issue of the June 25, 1938, edition of Liberty Magazine; two commemorative coins which were minted in honor of this fight; and a 1938 issue of Ring Magazine. However the highlight of this piece is the vibrant and original cardboard movie advertising broadside measuring 22x27". JSA Authenticated autographs of not only Joe Louis and Max Schmeling are present, but also of referee Arthur Donovan Sr, father to the Baltimore Colts Hall of Famer. Below the signatures is a complete, unused ticket and original program to the fight. The final column contains four original press photos depicting the progression of the fight, beginning with Louis and Schmeling exchanging punches to the point where Louis began repeatedly sending Schmeling to the canvas, to the triumphant end of the bout.
