1938 Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling II Program

1938 Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling II Program

Perhaps the most important program from the career of the Brown Bomber. This marks the pinnacle of Joe Louis’ career. The times surrounding the events of WWII America, were such that the entire nation was depending on Joe Louis to defeat the German Max Schmeling. In Yankee Stadium, in front of a capacity crowd, and in front of millions of Americans, Louis began pummeling the German fighter as soon as the bell sounded to start the first round. Schmeling only got off 2 punches during the fight, his corner threw in the towel after he was knocked to the canvas. Joe Louis became the first black American to take on the role of a national hero. Program cover adorned with the cartoons of each fighter, emanating from the lights of Yankee Stadium below. Colors are still bold and vibrant. EX.
