1938 Joe Louis vs. Max Scmeling II Fight Film Poster
This is a wonderful, original advertising poster for the viewing of the film of the fight between World Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis and Max Schmeling at Yankee Stadium on June 22, 1938. In one of the most celebrated events in boxing history Louis stopped Schmeling in one round. This illustrated poster is cardboard measuring 22” x 28.” Bold images of both fighters. There are two punch holes in the poster and piece missing in the upper right corner measuring about 2” x 2.” There are vertical and horizontal creases. A scarce poster for the viewing of the fight, one day after the event.
