1938 Kiddo Davis Cincinnati Reds Game Worn Jersey
Great 1938 Cincinnati Reds home jersey is all original and was game worn by Kiddo Davis. Amazing feel to this heavy weight cream-colored top with red piping at the sleeves. Felt red-on-black "C" logo is on the left breast with REDS spelled out in the center in individual red lettering. George Davis sewn in collar in red thread with Spalding size 42 tagging below. The number 48 is on the back in red-on-blue felt and it is conformed that Davis wore this number in 1938 - the jersey has "38" sewn in the tail for the year. An original Baseball Centennial patch is sewn on the left sleeve - this was added for the 1939 season and the jersey was likely worn by another player in spring training as Davis did not play in 1939 and the Reds did not use the number 48 during the regular season of 1939. Jersey is in fine condition overall with the only real flaw coming in the form of a missing top button. Stellar vintage jersey from one of baseball's oldest franchises.
