1938 Lou Gehrig Original Photograph Used for 1949 The Pride of the Yankees Comic Book Cover (PSA Type I)
Circa 1938 photo of New York Yankees great Lou Gehrig is a posed action shot as he is depicted in follow through of his majestic swing. Measuring 7x9", the black and white image has only the faintest hint of creases at the corners with no other stains or blemishes noticed. Back has a stamped disclaimer from Wide World photos along with Gehrig's name written in pencil. This very image was used for the cover of the 1949 "Pride of the Yankees" comic book which featured The Iron Horse. Comes with PSA LOA, Type I.
