1938 National League All-Star Team Signed Baseball

1938 National League All-Star Team Signed Baseball

Great HOFer-to-class-size ratio on this brilliant ONL (Frick) horsehide signed by 19 members of the 1938 NL All-Star squad, 4-1 winners at Crosley Field in part due to Leo Durocher’s “home run bunt”. No less than seven of the signers went to Cooperstown including Mel Ott, Lloyd Waner, Carl Hubbell, Ernie Lombardi, Gabby Hartnett, Leo Durocher and Billy Herman -- as well as a guy who had a HOF year in ‘38, “Double No-Hit” Johnny Vander Meer (SS), who started the game for the NL. Also here are Pepper Martin, Stanley Hack, Paul Derringer, Mace Brown, Ival Goodman, Cookie (as “H.”) Lavagetto, Bill Lee, etc. Signatures average 6/10 -- the Ott stands out as a solid 7 -- while the ball has been graded 5 (Excellent) overall by PSA and is perfectly displayable with one brownish scuff on a side panel.
