1938 University of California Football Photographs (22)
San Francisco Examiner staff photographers captured tons of game action from the 1938 University of California football season in this lot of (22) news photos. The images include some fine examples of photo diagramming as it was done before the digital age, giving great detail on the plays captured by the photographer's cameras. Some additional original SF examiner newspaper art in this lot shows: (3) diagrams from Cal's playbook that season; an (8) photo series called a "Magic Eye camera strip" detailing a play fake the USC Trojans tried unsuccessfully to use against the Bears. The photos measure 5x6" to 9x14" and are in VG to NM condition. Fascinating collection of vintage football photography!
