1939-1941 Brooklyn Dodgers Opening Day Ticket Collection (3)
During the 1930s and 1940s the Brooklyn Dodgers produced a number of uniquely designed tickets for their home openers. Offered here are three of those now-rare and highly coveted ticket stubs issued, respectively, for opening day in 1939, 1940, and 1941. 1) 1939. Circular ticket issued for an "Upper Stand" seat. The team's home schedule, including night games, is listed on the reverse. 3.5" in diameter. Light creasing with a small piece of tape applied on the reverse atop an area of surface paper loss. GD-VG. 2) 1940. Ticket, designed in the shape of a catcher's mitt, issued for a "Lower Stand" seat. The team's schedule is listed on the reverse. 3x4". VG-EX, with a few light creases. 3) 1941. Ticket featuring an illustration of a catcher, with the ticket die cut to match the contours of the image. Issued for a "Lower Stand" seat. 2.25x4.75". VG, with light creasing.
