1939 American Assocation All-Star Uniform

1939 American Assocation All-Star Uniform

There is nothing minor-league about the design of this 1939 American Association All-Star uniform worn by pitcher LeRoy Parmalee. Satin patriotic motif begins with the white jersey's red sleeves, blue star and red button-hole trim. Blue pants in white trim are held up by a white belt in red belt loops. The outfit is accessorized by red stirrup socks (now almost worn through at the bottom) with red, white and blue stripes, and by a red cap with white pinstripes and blue bill -- all done in satin, of course. (A safety pin keeps together the leather lining in the cap). Whatever happened that game, it made Parmalee's uniform really dirty. Blood near the bottom jersey button is one member of an All-Star stain team on this size 44 Wilson-issue gear. Imagine: an All-Star Game played hard in fashion-forward style. Talk about your throwbacks.
