1939 Boston Braves Jacket
What we have here is an important piece of historical baseball equipment emanating from one of the original teams of the modern baseball era. This bright red wool jacket is a fabulous relic tied to the 1939 Boston Nationals. We are able to place the jacket to that particular team and year based upon the Horace Partridge label sewn on the inside right seam (a dominant manufacture of the era), the style of the felt letter, “B” which appears over the heart (consistent with that year), and the red scheme of the jacket, which was dominant in ’39. It is not unusual for vintage jackets like this one to be absent of any identifying player name or number, due to the fact that some clubs only bought enough jackets for the number of guys they had on the bench at one time (the jackets were shared). Fully intact, showing only slight signs of wear.
